Influencing
QNIS works to influence legislation, policy making, and political debates that affect community nursing and midwifery in Scotland.

We work with politicians, civil servants, and other stakeholders to ensure a community nursing and midwifery perspective is incorporated into policy making at the heart of government.
In September, 2024, we held a reception sponsored by Carol Mochan MSP in the Scottish Parliament’s Garden. MSPs, health professionals, policymakers, nurses and midwives from across the country gathered to mark 135 years of the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland, and the awarding of the Queen’s Nurse title to over 170 contemporary Queen’s Nurses. We were delighted to be joined by over 70 Queen’s Nurses from across Scotland.
