What we do

We are a charity that is focused on providing high-quality professional development opportunities for Scotland’s community nurses and midwives, encouraging them to tackle health and care inequalities in collaboration with the people they care for.

We make awards for long service to community nurses and midwives who have worked 21 years or more in community settings.

We provide friendship, connection, and support for retired Queen’s Nurses who trained before 1969.

Alongside this, we provide information on community nursing and midwifery careers and advocate for the profession, ensuring that community nursing and midwifery perspectives influence policy and legislation.

One person is in an NHS uniform, another in a dark dress, and another in a dark red shirt. A whiteboard with another poster is visible in the background.

Leadership Development

Nurses and midwives learn early in their careers that they are expected to develop and demonstrate leadership qualities and take up leadership roles. Of course, the nature of leadership changes according to the job and the context, but nonetheless, leadership is a fundamental dimension of all nursing and midwifery work.

Relational care

Relational approaches to care are based on a deep understanding of relationships and human development.
